Best Selling Coffee Makers
65Top Five Best Selling Coffee Makers
The most popular coffeemaker today is the Cuisinart DCC-1200, a standard automatic drip coffeemaker with a full set of features. Interestingly though, three of the top five best selling coffee makers are single cup coffee makers (the Keurig B40, Keurig B60 and Black & Decker DCM18S). Rounding out the list is the unique, but highly regarded Aerobie 80R08 AeroPress.
Cuisinart DCC-1200 Coffeemaker
The Cuisinart DCC-1200 coffeemaker is currently the best selling coffeemaker around. In fact, in addition to being the #1 best selling coffee machine on Amazon, it’s the #4 best selling small appliance of any type. Cuisinart is known for its well made coffee makers, and the DC-1200 is no exception. Stylishly retro, the coffeemaker is brushed stainless steel with black trim.
The machine includes a solid set of features including a combination digital clock and timer so your coffee will be piping hot when you get up in the morning. If the coffee is still brewing, the automatic pause feature stops the brew when the carafe is removed. If you don’t want a full twelve cups of coffee, the machine can be set to brew a smaller one to four cup pot. For the best tasting coffee, the DC-1200 includes a built in charcoal water filter.
The Cuisinart DCC-1200 lists for $145.00, but can be found for around half that price at some locations. Replacement carafes are also readily available if you happen to break the glass carafe.
Keurig B60 Coffeemaker
The Keurig B60 is a single serving coffee machine that uses Keurig’s patented premeasured K-Cups, which are available in over 70 different varieties including coffee, tea and cocoa. The B60’s one-touch system allows the exact control over brewing and when you’re done, there’s no messy coffee grinds to clean up. The B60 is great for parties or other gatherings where people want different brews.
Coffee can be brewed in three different “brew-sizes”, from a bit over five ounces to over 9 ounces, depending on your tastes. For coffee connoisseurs, both the brewing time and the temperature can be controlled. Other features include a programmable combination digital clock and timer, an indicator to let you know when you need to descale (important in areas with hard water) and a removable drip tray for easy cleaning.
The Keurig B60 lists for around $140.00, but can be found for less. K-Cups are available from many distributors in many flavors, and there is no need to worry about buying a replacement carafe as the machine has no carafe to break!
Aerobie 80R08 AeroPress
In some ways similar to French Press coffeemakers, the Aerobie 80R08 AeroPress is a unique coffeemaker that many people feel produces some of the best tasting coffee. In fact, this coffeemaker is one of the top three bestselling coffeemakers on Amazon. Unlike most coffeemakers, the 80R08 does not heat water. A filter is placed on the bottom cap of the chamber, coffee grounds are placed in the chamber and then hot water is poured in the chamber and mixed with the coffee grounds. After a short time, the plunger is put in the chamber and pressed down. The coffee is then filtered and collected in a coffee mug underneath (much more complete directions are included with the coffeemaker).
Using different techniques and mixtures you can make regular coffee, espresso, Americano as well as other types. An added benefit of the 80R08 Aeropress is that it is extremely easy to clean – there’s no carafe, reservoir, or other complex mechanisms. The Aerobie 80R08 runs about $26.00 and the micro-filters used in the coffeemaker are also quite inexpensive, running only about $3.00 to $5.00 for a package of 350 filters.Black & Decker DCM18S Coffeemaker
Similar to the Keurig B60, the Black & Decker DCM18S is a single serving coffeemaker. Unlike the Keurig B60, the DCM18S is an inexpensive machine geared towards those who want a simple coffee machine that doesn’t take up much space. The DCM18S brews 15 ounces of coffee into an included stainless steel travel mug that is designed to fit most car cup holders. A permanent coffee filter removes the need to use messy paper filters and the machine has an automatic shut off, so you don’t have to worry about leaving it on if you’re in a hurry. In addition to making coffee, it can also heat water for hot chocolate, soup or other instant foods, making it great for dorms or the office.
The DCM18S measures a compact 9 ¾ x 7” x 6” and lists for less than $20.00 (remember, this includes the thermal coffee mug!).Keurig B40 Coffeemaker
Single serving coffeemakers are definitely popular! The Keurig B40 is very similar to the Keurig B60 mentioned above, although it costs slightly less. It uses the same patented K-Cups and only takes four minutes before it is ready to use. Like the B60, it is great when you have a group of people and everyone wants a different type of coffee (or even tea or cocoa). A few of the features are reduced compared to the B60 (for example, the B40 has only two “brew-size” settings instead of three), but it would be worthwhile to compare the two coffeemakers to see if the added features are worth the extra cost.
The Keurig B40 lists for about $120.00, but can be found for under $100.00. As with the B60, the K-Cups are easy to find and you will never need to worry about purchasing a replacement carafe, as the machine uses no carafe!
